Got a tiny crack in your metal and don’t want to thin it out by sanding? This tip from @socialjusticejewelry via @thejewelerssaw shows how they use a PUK III welder on a low setting to zap the crack, then gently sand it smooth 💥
The video shows a crack in stainless steel, but this trick could work on other metals too. Their older PUK doesn’t display watt seconds, but based on newer machines, they estimate the setting is higher than 8 w/s.
✨ Bonus tip: If you’re working with a crevice or deeper gap, you can weld in a sliver of very thin wire—so for a silver piece, you’d just add a bit of silver wire before welding!
Such a clever way to repair without compromising your piece 💡

#metalsmithsociety #jewelryrepair #pukwelder #pulsearcwelder #jewelrytip #jewelrytools #metalrepair #jewelrystudio #jewelrybenchhacks #jewelryprocess #metalsmithing #weldnotmelt #socialjusticejewelry #thejewelerssaw #jewelryhack #goldsmithlife #metalworkingmagic
