This small but mighty tool from
@gesswein.jewelry has been in constant use in my studio and I wanted to talk about some of the ways I use it. It’s a Fretz Micro Mandrel (SKU:8141086) one of four mandrels that comes in a set and they vary in size from 2mm-5mm when you need that extra small mandrel to work on. I often do since I love to make tiny, thick bezel settings. If I need to stretch a bezel, this is the perfect tool. I can also form and shape jump rings and bails. I like that its firmly mounted to my bench top and both of my hands are free to work (vs. trying to hold a mandrel in one hand and hammer with the other.) If you’re interested in this set up I recommend buying the Stake Holder (SKU:8141060) this is what you will mount to your bench. You also need the FRETZ H-2 Accessory Tool Holder (SKU:8141084) that is what holds the mandrels. The stake holder works with other miniature stakes that Fretz makes as well.
