Here is a two part tip if you use #handyflux - found in an article on the @riogrande blog where jeweler @marknelson5121 shared some wisdom - “ The stuff (Handy Flux) comes thick as paste that can be hard to use, so I mix it in a separate container with a little distilled water to the consistency of heavy cream. This makes it a lot easier to handle. Also, it really likes to dry out. So I take a little out and place it in a smaller container. What remains in the original container I then cover with a layer of distilled water and cap. I then bag the whole thing in an airtight ziplock bag. Doing it this way I have been able to keep the same container of flux for over a year.” Which brings me to the second part of today’s tip. Shared by @nadinekieftjewelry - “This is a great tip from my Japanese colleague. Flux in a jam jar 👩🏻🏭 Keeps it fresh and juicy.” You can drill a hole in the top of the jar that your brush snuggly fits into. Also I think it’s time for me to buy new flux 😬 #metalsmithsociety #fluxingfun #benchjeweler #goudsmid #goldsmith #guldsmed #jeweler #borax #goldschmied #howitsdone #behindthescenes #workbench #solderingtips
